Audrey Wells-Masterson, 81, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Monticello House, where she had lived the past three years. She was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Columbia, Ky., daughter of Judge G. and Essie Shuffett Rodgers. She and Robert A. Wells were married in December 1947. He passed away Nov. 29, 1986...

Audrey Wells-Masterson, 81, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Monticello House, where she had lived the past three years.

She was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Columbia, Ky., daughter of Judge G. and Essie Shuffett Rodgers. She and Robert A. Wells were married in December 1947. He passed away Nov. 29, 1986.

Audrey and Robert lived in Greensburg, Ky., where they owned and operated a dairy farm many years. Audrey was also an accomplished seamstress, and after they sold the farm she worked as a seamstress for American Needle Craft and Clark Casual Furniture, both in Greensburg.

In the mid-1990s, she moved to Jackson to be near her son and his family. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center and became a member of First Baptist Church, where she met Sam Masterson. She and Sam were married Feb. 13, 1998. They enjoyed four happy years together before he passed away Dec. 27, 2002.

Loving survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Rae Wells of Jackson; two granddaughters, Tonda (Shawn) Cook and Elizabeth "Nikki" Wells, both of Jackson; and three great-grandchildren, Meredith, Nathan and Sarah Cook, all of Jackson; two brothers, Kenneth Rodgers and Junior Rodgers, both of Campbellsville, Ky.; and three sisters, Ortella Picket and Sara Murray, both of Greensburg, and Jean Looney of Elizabethtown, Ky.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Randal Rodgers.

All local arrangements will be Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m., and the funeral at 7, with Dr. Tim Miller officiating. A committal service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Greensburg.

Memorials are suggested to Jackson Senior Center.
