BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Arthur E. Swarts, 78, of Bloomfield died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Three Rivers Health Care North Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in St. Louis, son of Harry and Pauline Marie Grosser Swarts. He and Helen Holmes were married Nov. 13, 1983, at Gravel Hill, Mo. She died Feb. 21, 1997.
Swarts lived in the Aquilla and Bloomfield areas since 1983. He was a member of American Legion Post 382.
He was in the U.S. Navy four years during World War II, serving on two ships that were sunk.
There are no surviving relatives.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo., from 3-5 p.m. Monday. A prayer service will be conducted by Chaplain Cotus James.
Graveside service will be held at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, with military rites conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Group.
