CAIRO, Ill. -- Arthur T. King, 93, of Bismarck, Mo., formerly of Cairo, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Camelot Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Farmington, Mo.
He was born July 29, 1913, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of William Edward and Ludmilla Margaret Churney King. He married Dorothy Dean, who preceded him in death.
King retired as a master pilot with Midwest Towing Co. He was the organizer for Teamsters Union Local 54 in St. Louis. He was a member of Pulaski County Memorial VFW Post 8891 in Mounds and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, William King of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill. The Rev. Martin Curley and Dr. Larry Potts will officiate. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 8891, VFW Post 2649 of Cairo and the American Legion.
