EAST PRAIRIE -- Arthur J. Worthy, 75, of East Prairie, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1993, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1918, at Byler, son of Arthur and Lulabelle Frazier Worthy. He and Annie Mae Melton were married Nov. 25, 1939.
Worthy was a retired farmer, and member of First General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Harold Worthy of Hickman, Ky., Donald and Larry Worthy of East Prairie, Jerry Worthy of Wappapello, Roy Worthy of Jackson, Richard Worthy of Washington, Roger Worthy of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He is also survived by eight daughters, Eva Williams of Janesville, Wis., Dorothy Russell and Patsy Conlin of St. Louis, Shirley Eye of Pacific, Joyce Wallace of Houston, Texas, Brenda Dozer of Sikeston, Rebecca Garrett and Mary Worthy of East Prairie; a brother, Eugene Worthy of Florida; a sister, Opal Stokes of East Prairie; 25 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First General Baptist Church. The Revs. Ernest Brown and Bob Williams will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today.
