SHAWNEETOWN -- Arthur "Addie" Fiedler, 84, of Shawneetown, died Monday, Jan. 24, 1994, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 9, 1909, at New Wells, son of Herman and Emily Popp Fiedler. He and Lorraine Sclimpert were married May 13, 1934.
Fiedler owned and operated Shawneetown Mercantile Co. 58 years, retiring in 1973. He was a representative with Columbia Mutual Insurance Co., was secretary/treasurer of Communities Insurance Co. 19 years, and had been an agent and director of Cameron and Columbia Mutual Insurance Companies. He was also collector for Shawnee Water District.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church here, had been active in the Men's Club, served as treasurer and had been custodian.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Eugene Fiedler of Green Bay, Wis.; four daughters, Jeaniece Reimer and Cherlyn Parham of Jackson, Carolyn Fiedler of Cape Girardeau, Charlene Clark of St. Charles; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church. The Rev. Howard Mueller will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-9 p.m. today, and at Trinity Church after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
