Arthur "Art" Bodenstein, 70, of Gordonville passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 9, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, son of Leo A. and Alma D. Nagel Bodenstein. He and Ann M. Buchheit were married Sept. 2, 1967, in Perryville, Missouri. 

Art was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. He was a professional farmer in both agriculture and dairy herd, and was the fifth generation to reside on the family farm near Gordonville. He served on various committees in the community, which included being a charter member of the Gordonville Fire Department for 40 years.

Loving survivors include his wife of 46 years; a son, Wayne (Tina) Bodenstein of Gordonville; two daughters, Jill (John) Peters of Cape Girardeau and Jan Bodenstein of Jackson; a sister, Karen (Bob) Kranawetter of Gordonville; and six grandchildren, Mary Ann and Katie Bradshaw, Renee and Steven Peters and Austin and Carson Bodenstein.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the church or charity of your choice.
