MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Arthur George Ash Sr., 81, of Marble Hill died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1924, at Richmond Heights, Mo., son of Enoch and Esther Krebs Ash. He and Jane McCurdy were married Nov. 13, 1943, at Amarillo, Texas. She died Nov. 27, 1990.
Ash was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was a retired firefighter in Kirkwood, Mo. He had lived in Marble Hill since 1974. He was a member of the Kirkwood Lodge 484 AF&AM Rabboni Chapter, the Ascolan Commandery, the Moolah Temple, Victory Chapter 431 of OES, the First Baptist Church of Marble Hill and American Legion Post 5900 of Marble Hill. Ash was also a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Holland of Blue Field, W.Va., and Linda Abbott of Peachtree City, Ga.; and two sons, Arthur G. Ash Jr. and Scott S. Ash, both of Peachtree City; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
