Aron J. Whitmore, 60, of Miller City, Ill., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 4, 1947, in Chicago, son of William and Ann Walter Whitmore. He and Beverly Thomas were married.
He was a member of Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo, Ill., where he served as deacon, trustee and chairman of the advisory board. Whitmore was a member of the Cape Girardeau Elks Club, the American Legion, Cairo AF&AM Lodge No. 237, the Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, Ill., and Cairo VFW Post 2649. He was also a member of the 7th Kentucky Reenactment Group and served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Erikia Whitmore Davis; a son, Kyle Whitmore of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Terry Whitmore of Elk Grove, Ill.; and a grandson and granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the worship center, with Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Burial will be in the United States National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill., with military honors offered by the Pulaski County Memorial VFW Post 8801 of Mounds, Ill., Cairo VFW Post 2649 and the Louis Phares American Legion Post 178 of Villa Ridge, Ill.
