NEW WELLS, Mo. -- Arnold William Alvin Mirly, 78, of New Wells passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, with the Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. at the church.
McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mirly was born Feb. 13, 1922, in New Wells, son of Arthur and Helen Koenig Mirly, and stepmother Rufina Meyr Mirly.
He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, and had served as a former trustee. He farmed in the community all his life, and was known for his woodwork and craft creations.
He married the former Irene Hoffman Feb. 5, 1950, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Joann Mirly of New Wells; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Florence of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, David Mirly and wife Tori, Jennifer and Diane Mirly, and Trey Florence; and a sister, Alida Koeberl of Pocahontas, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Mirly.
