FARRAR, Mo. -- Armin Reinhold Koenig, 76, of Farrar was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Farrar, son of Reinhold Traugott and Marie Ella Hedwig Luehrs Koenig.
Koenig was baptized into the Christian faith Nov. 19, 1933, at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar by the Rev. R.A. Rook. He made public profession of this faith in Jesus at his confirmation March 30, 1947, at Salem Lutheran Church. He was confirmed by the Rev. W.F. Dommer.
He was joined in holy marriage to Verna Irma Wallman on April 2, 1961, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas by the Rev. Walter Wesche. The Lord blessed their union with one child.
Armin is survived by his wife, Verna Koenig of Farrar; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tim Dreyer of Farrar; two grandchildren, Katelin and Madison Dreyer of Farrar; a sister, Doris Gihring of New Wells; a brother, Elmer (Donna) Koenig of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Mildred (Floyd) Hoffman of New Wells, Delores Wallman of Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Armin was a lifelong farmer who loved his family and caring for the land and animals. He was also a custodian nine years with Perry County School District. He was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church and had served on its finance board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irma Recker; his father-and-mother-in-law, Aaron and Hilda Wallman; four brothers-in-law, Roland Recker, Norman Petzoldt, James Gihring and Ernst Wallman.
Memorials are preferred to Salem Lutheran School or Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 6:30 to 8 a.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. His body will be laid to rest in Salem Lutheran Cemetery to await the glorious return of Jesus Christ on the Day of Resurrection.
