Arline Bertha Lowes, 85, of Jackson died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Jackson Manor.

She was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Jackson, to August H. and Leona Kurre Voshage.

She and Glen E. "Andy" Lowes were married June 6, 1943, at Jackson. He died Aug. 21, 1975.

Arline worked at Jackson Hosiery Mill and LeeRowan Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1991.

She was an avid fan of Jackson High School football, attending home and away games. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of St. Paul Lutheran School and Jackson High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet (Greg) Palmer of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Michael G. (Kathy) Lowes of Cuba, Mo., Joe L. (Janet) Lowes of Cape Girardeau, James H. (Kathy) Lowes of Jackson; and a brother, Jerry L. (Pat) Voshage of Jackson.

Also 12 grandchildren, Kelly (Tyler) Sanders, Brandi Palmer, Jennifer (Brent) Seiler, Michael C. (Joyce) Lowes, Erik Lowes, Cliff (Sandy) Harris, Gail (Bob) Best, Ginger Malone, Joni (Greg) Schemel, Jamie (Rick) Eftink, Melissa (Kevin) Tankersley, Christy Gowan; 16 great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Kate Sanders, Hunter and Kendall Tankersley, Christian and Payton Lowes, Ambrose and Wil Seiler, Laura Robinson, Ashlee Hill, Kyle Best, Ryan Malone, Kayla and Dylan Schemel, Brandy and Kassidy Gowan; and a great-granddaughter, Alaina Christine Eftink, due in April.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, William "Bill" Lowes in 1990 and Gary E. Lowes in 1995; a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Seiler in 2003; a brother; and two sisters.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
