Arlinda Barringer-McElreath, 100, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Illmo, Missouri, to Finis Huff and Pearl Jennie Foster Huff.
Arlinda worked for JCPenney for more than 30 years as a sales clerk and catalog supervisor.
Arlinda married Vernon C. Barringer and to their union eight children were born. Vernon passed away in Sept. of 1962. She later married Buford McElreath and he passed away in Dec. of 1976.
Survivors include her five daughters, Sue McMullin, Linda Shirrell, Joyce (Vic) Lanzotti, Beth (Bob) Bauer, Amy Stovall; daughter-in-law, Peggy Barringer; step-daughter, Glenda McElreath Henson; and several nieces and nephews; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Vernon C. Barringer, Jr.; daughters, Norma Barenkamp and Judy Goza; step-daughter, Evelyn McElreath; three sisters; and one brother.
The family would like to thank Ratliff Care Center for their excellent care.
Private family funeral services will be held. Burial will follow at New Lorimier Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Teen Challenge of Mid America, 303 Matc Lane, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
