Arlen Leon Maevers, 74, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born July 20, 1933, in Tilsit, son of the late August and Amanda (Nagle) Maevers.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

He was a senior construction inspector for Missouri Department of Transportation and a licensed land surveyor.

On May 19, 1957, he married Lola Faith; she preceded him in death May 15, 1971.

On Sept. 16, 1972, he married Mary Ann Schreckenberg; she survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sheri Leigh Vaughan of Sikeston and Ellen Kay New of Diehlstadt, Mo.; a brother, Lester Maevers of Jackson; a sister, Jerlene Hutteger of Jackson; and five grandchildren, Angela Vaughan of Cape Girardeau, Jami Vaughan of Chaffee, Leandra Vaughan of Sikeston, Kenneth Ray New II of Sacramento, Calif., and Kristina New (Nathan) Penland of Fort Worth, Texas.

A daughter, Judith Ann Maevers; a brother, Norman Maevers and a sister, Mildred Lohmann, preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Funeral services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at Concordia Lutheran Church. The Rev. A.J. Wollenburg will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson with full military honors.
