GRAY RIDGE -- Funeral service for Arel Fowler of Gray Ridge will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Doyle Corlew will officiate, with burial in Essex Cemetery at Essex.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Fowler, 86, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

She was born March 16, 1911, in Parsons, Tenn., daughter of Jim and Ethel Ivy Wilson. She and Albert Fowler were married Aug. 2, 1930. He died July 21, 1982.

Fowler, formerly of Waynesboro, Tenn., had lived in the Gray Ridge area since 1945. She retired as a cook at Gray Ridge School. She was a member of Trotter General Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Albert Fowler Jr. of Gray Ridge, Bobby and Pete Fowler of Dexter, Joe Fowler of St. Charles, Jim Fowler of Gardiner, Mont.; a daughter, Judith Ray of Blytheville, Ark.; a sister, Bonnie Wilson of Parsons; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, and a grandson.
