SIKESTON -- Wylie Archie Alliston Jr., 70, of Murray, Ky., formerly of Sikeston, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at the Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray.

He was born May 6, 1926 in Sikeston to Wylie Archie and Ada Jane Till Alliston. He married Linda S. James on April 15, 1977, in Sikeston, and she survives.

He worked as a lineman for Missouri Utilities and Union Electric. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict, then served for 40 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve, retiring in 1986 as a master chief petty officer.

He was a member of Sikeston Masonic Lodge #310 AF&AM and of the Moolah Shrine Temple in St. Louis.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Terry Alliston of Nagodoches, Texas, and Alan Alliston of Rochelle, Ill.; one brother, Tom Alliston of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sisters, Ethel Gardner and Sue Gardner of Sikeston, and Geneva Watson of Murray, and two grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Fred Liest officiating. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
