CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Aquilla Dewitt Chapman, 83, of Chaffee died Monday, March 19, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Advance, Mo., son of George Edward and Mell Reed Chapman. He and Mildred Chasteen Nance were married March 8, 2001.
Chapman was a machine operator at Florsheim Shoe Co. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He moved to Chaffee 45 years ago from Bell City, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Darrell Chapman of Chaffee, Keith Chapman of Oran, Mo.; a daughter, Diane Miller of Wichita, Kan.; a stepson, Kenneth Nance of Chaffee; three brothers, Bill and Jack Chapman of Chaffee, Ben Chapman of St. Louis; two sisters, Leida Kiehn of Advance, Mo., Maxine Smith of Delta, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dan Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
