Anna L. Vandiver, 90, of Jackson went to her heavenly home Monday, March 28, 2022.
Ann was born Jan. 23, 1932, to Percy and Rosetta Hutchings Reddick in Cantwell, Missouri. She and Norman Vandiver were married April 17, 1948. Three children were born to their union.
Ann particularly enjoyed dancing, and one of her fondest memories was that she taught Norman how to dance. They had been married 53 years when Norman passed away Oct. 11, 2001.
She worked 24 years in housekeeping at Saint Francis Medical Center. She formerly attended La Croix United Methodist Church with her daughter.
Affectionately called "Spicy Grandma Ann" by her granddaughter, Katy, Ann liked to cook, drink coffee all day, watch "Wheel of Fortune," play Bingo, and go to the casinos in Cape Girardeau, Metropolis, Illinois, and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed sharing biscuits and gravy with her good friend, Larry Hayden.
Ann is survived by three children, Larry W. Vandiver of Desloge, Missouri; Norman Earl Vandiver Jr. and his wife, Walli, of Wichita, Kansas; and Pam Vandiver of Jackson; three granddaughters, Tammy (Robert) Gunnell, Taryn (Phillip) Odler and Stacy (David) Loenneke; a grandson, Master Sgt. Scotty A. Miget and wife, Lisa; seven great-grandchildren, Jesse, Colin, Ethan, Alex, Katy, Kayla and Addie; a sister, Naomi Hulsey; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Reddick; a brother-in-law, Homer "Frog" Black; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Estelle (Lib) LaHay and Andrea "Andi" Black; a brother, Howard Reddick; and a brother-in-law, Paul Hulsey.
Her favorite companion was her late peek-a-poo, Misty, of whom she often spoke and dearly loved and missed.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Josh Boley officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Missouri Pets in Cape Girardeau.
