SAN ANTONIO -- Anna Marie Glenn, 93, passed away of natural causes Thursday, July 9, 2020, in San Antonio.
She was born May 21, 1927, in Benton, Missouri, to Victor Mike and Clementine Elizabeth Hahn Bollinger.
Anna Marie completed her registered nurse training at the St. Paul School of Nursing in Dallas. It was there that she met her future husband -- Theodore J. "Ted" Glenn -- on a blind date. Within four weeks of meeting, they knew they were soul mates and married! They enjoyed 63 years together building a wonderful life, traveling the world, practicing medicine and volunteering often in the service of others.
After practicing medicine in Farwell, Texas, for a number of years, they moved back to Southeast Missouri, where Ted practiced psychiatry and family medicine at Family Mental Health Center for 23 years. Upon retiring in 2001, they moved to San Antonio to be near their children.
In Cape Girardeau, they were members of Centenary United Methodist Church. Anna Marie was a member of Capaha FCE and Kage FCE clubs, Elks Ladies and Cape Girardeau County Medical Auxiliary. Anna Marie was a lifelong Girl Scout, too, creating the first troop in Farwell and supporting several Girl Scout councils in Texas, Kansas and Missouri all through her life.
Anna Marie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dr. Theodore J. Glenn; sister, Viola Dannenmueller; and brothers, Harold, Joseph, John and Monroe Bollinger.
She is survived by daughters, Sandra Kay Glenn (Suzanne Lindell) and Deborah Barcroft; and son, Theodore J. (Gloria) Glenn Jr. She is also survived by grandsons, Christopher Barcroft and Matt (Anna) Glenn; and a granddaughter, Jennifer (Josh) Fugate. Six beautiful great-grandchildren -- Nolan, Finlay and Hudson Fugate and Spencer, Ryder and Lily Glenn -- also survive.
Due to COVID-19, no funerals or gatherings are allowed at this time. Her remains will be placed alongside her husband's at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
If you feel compelled to honor her, the family suggests one of her two favorite charities: Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota, at www.stjo.org.
