Anna Lee Evers, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at her home. She was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Metropolis, Ill., daughter of the late Lloyd and Etta Armstrong. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau after being a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and growing up in Metropolis. Anna Lee Evers, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at her home.

She was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Metropolis, Ill., daughter of the late Lloyd and Etta Armstrong.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau after being a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and growing up in Metropolis. She taught at various schools in Southern Illinois.

Mrs. Evers graduated from Asbury College in Kentucky and received a master's degree at SIU-Edwardsville.

She was a former district president of United Methodist Women, board member of the Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, Ill., and mission pastor of the Outreach Chapel of the United Methodist Church in Metropolis.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Evers and wife Mary stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and formerly of McLeansboro, Ill., Dan Evers of Mount Vernon, Ill.; a daughter, Jane Comeau of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Miriam Walker and husband, Nathan of Omaha, Neb., Justin Evers and Jareth Evers of McLeansboro, Richard Daniel Comeau III of Cape Girardeau; and a great-grandchild, Lillian Chin Walker of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, James Willard Armstrong.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., and at First United Methodist Church in Metropolis Saturday from noon to 1 p.m.

The funeral will be held at First United Methodist Church Saturday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Earl Black officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements, and Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis will be in charge of arrangements in Metropolis.
