Ann A. Yount, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Parma, Missouri, daughter of Charles and Lillie Edwards Alexander. She and Homer Yount were married in 1950. He preceded her in death July 23, 1986.
Ann and Homer moved to Cape Girardeau in 1946. She and her husband were founders and co-owners of the former Cape Girardeau Leather Manufacturing Co., which later became Ralph Edwards Sportswear Inc. In 1972 the Yount family sold their interest in Ralph Edwards Sportswear and retired.
The Younts moved to Marquand, Missouri, in 1976 and returned to Cape Girardeau in 1986. Ann was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary 3838 and Cape Girardeau Women's Bowling League, all in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Tamara (Gary) West of Jackson; two grandchildren, Sgt. Kyle W. (Jennifer) West and Kindle C. (Leif) Thompson of Troy, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Chloe, Aubrey and Whitney West, Morgan and Kaiya Thompson, all of Troy, and Briana Thompson of Gordonville; and many beloved friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Homer and Ann Yount Scholarship Fund at Grace United Methodist Church.
