BENTON, Mo. -- Ann Catherine Scherer, 82, of Benton died Jan. 20, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 6, 1932, in New Hamburg, Missouri. She married Ralph Andrew Scherer on May 20, 1953, in New Hamburg. He preceded her in death Oct 20, 1997.

She was an X-ray technician at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, St. Ann's Sodality of St. Denis and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by three sons, Bruce (Michelle) Scherer of Benton, Roy (Jody) Scherer of Sparta, Missouri, and Neal (Jodi) Scherer of Altenburg, Missouri; two daughters, Donna (Tim) Niederkorn of Millstadt, Illinois, and Cathy (Brian) Ekins of Fort Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Theon Vetter, and two sisters, Marvine LeGrand and Carrie Raymond.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Benton. Parish prayers will take place at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Denis Catholic Cemetery in Benton.

Memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
