Anita LeGrand

BENTON, Mo. -- Anita Catherine LeGrand, 92, of Benton died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 8, 1911, at Oran, Mo., daughter of Frank and Ida Scherer Dirnberger. She and Denis LeGrand were married May 28, 1935, in Oran. He died Feb. 19, 1996.

LeGrand lived in the Oran and Benton communities all her life. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church at Benton and its St. Ann Sodality.

Survivors include two sons, James and Michael LeGrand of Benton; four daughters, Mary Sater of Moscow Mills, Mo., Clara LeGrand of Cape Girardeau, Bernadette Stricker of Charleston, Mo., Rose Spears of Bell City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Benton Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Denis Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
