ANNA, Ill. -- Andrew "Andy" Smith, 71, of Anna died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at the Union County Hospital.

He was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Alto Pass, Ill., son of Roscoe and Catherine Fox Smith. He and Geraldine "Gerry" Kohler were married Oct. 2, 1953, in Jonesboro, Ill.

He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the VFW in Anna. He also was a member of the Anna Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite and the Shriners and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Andrea Jane Brown of Anna; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Hileman and Parr Funeral Services Chapel in Anna. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today by the Anna Masonic Lodge.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Cemetery.
