MORLEY, Mo. -- Andrew Patrick "Andy" Matz, 95, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.
Born Dec. 4, 1921, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
Andy worked as a butcher for A&P Stores for 25 years; worked at Burger King in Sikeston, Missouri, for five years; and was a butcher for Ward Food Mart in Jackson and a butcher for Benton Bestway in Benton, Missouri, before retiring.
He was a member of Excelsior Lodge 441 in Jackson, the Scottish Rite and was past master of the Oak Ridge Lodge.
He was married to Betty Dee Bruihl Matz, and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son-in-law, Charles Garner of Morley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jim Matthews, pastor of Cape County Cowboy Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery at Oak Ridge, with full military honors.
