Amelia "Amy" Jean Rhodes Winchester, 43, of Advance, Mo., was born Dec. 18, 1959 in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of the late Bill E. and Jean F. Rhodes, and passed away Dec. 27, 2002 in Fayetteville, Ark., due to injuries sustained in a car accident.
During the last year and a half, Amy was the middle school counselor at Woodland R-IV School District in Marble Hill. Prior to being employed at Woodland School, she was the counselor for the Advance School District.
Amy was past president of the Southeast Missouri School Counselor Association. Among other positions on the governing board of this organization, she was a former president-elect and treasurer; she was the current newsletter editor. Amy was also a past member of the governing board for the Missouri School Counselor Association.
Amy was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Abby Winchester of the home; a sister, Kathy Kinder of Sikeston, Mo., and a brother, Billy Rhodes of Advance.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Tom Zych will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Amy Winchester Memorial Scholarship, which will be given at Advance High School and Woodland High School.
