MORLEY, Mo. -- Amos Joel Coonts, 66, of Morley died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Mount Judea, Ark., son of Tony and Willa Mae Coonts. He and Coy Phillips Kerber were married in 1979.
Coonts retired as a dispatcher with Delta Express Trucking. He attended Cape First Assembly in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Coonts of Virginia Beach, Va., Richard Coonts of Perryville, Mo.; a daughter, Patty Coonts of Birmingham, Ala.; three stepsons, Danny Kerber of Cape Girardeau, Dennis Kerber of Lima, Ohio, James Kerber of Morley; and a stepdaughter, Debbie Rehr of St. Louis.
Also surviving are two brothers, Argus Coonts of Morehouse, Mo., Jimmy Coonts of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Alice Coleman of St. Louis, Alta Clements of Roby, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a stepson.
Friends may call at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Mo., from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Wilson Sikes will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hills Memorial Cemetery in Morley.
