PADUCAH, Ky. -- Mary Amilda Schmitt, 91, of Paducah passed away at 9:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Amilda was born March 13, 1924, in McCracken County, Kentucky, to Louis and Hallie Kaufman.
A woman of strong faith, she was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a very loving, caring, giving person who took great joy in helping others.
She retired from Southern Textile after 43 years of service.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Job Schmitt, of Paducah, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Norbert Anthony Schmitt; one son, Terry Louis Schmitt; four sisters, Adelean Poat, Jeanette Englert and Helen Marie Krimple, and her twin sister, Hilda Wurth; and one brother, Louis Kaufman Jr. Her parents were Louis Kaufman Sr. and Hallie Grief Kaufman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Prayers will begin at 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brad Whistle officiating. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
