SIKESTON -- Amil S. Lape, 80, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Advance, son of Cooper and Ida McKenny Lape. He and Joyce Causbie were married March 4, 1939, in Piggott, Ark. Lape was a farmer and had won numerous awards. He was the first farmer to sow wheat by plane in this area. He served on the Parma School Board two terms in the 1950s. Lape was a member of First United Methodist Church...

SIKESTON -- Amil S. Lape, 80, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Advance, son of Cooper and Ida McKenny Lape. He and Joyce Causbie were married March 4, 1939, in Piggott, Ark.

Lape was a farmer and had won numerous awards. He was the first farmer to sow wheat by plane in this area. He served on the Parma School Board two terms in the 1950s. Lape was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wanda Thomason of Lilbourn, Norma Hartsfield of Malden; three brothers, August Lape of Malden, Curt Lape of Parma, D.K. Lape of Sikeston; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jim Davis and the Rev. Rick Lasley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
