MENFRO -- Amiel H. Colin, 85, of Menfro died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 2, 1913, at Menfro, son of Amiel L. and Nellie Gerstacker Colin. He and Othella M. Downing were married March 16, 1935. Colin had been a carpenter on a riverboat. He was a member of Carpenters Union in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II...

MENFRO -- Amiel H. Colin, 85, of Menfro died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 2, 1913, at Menfro, son of Amiel L. and Nellie Gerstacker Colin. He and Othella M. Downing were married March 16, 1935.

Colin had been a carpenter on a riverboat. He was a member of Carpenters Union in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jacqueline Brendel of St. Louis, Janet Harper of Nashville, Tenn., Barbara Garris of Perryville; two sons, Richard and Stanley Colin of Perryville; four half sisters; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, and two half brothers.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 4-9 p.m. today, and Thursday after 6:30 a.m.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
