Alvis Truman Lemonds, 84, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Oct. 4, 1913, at Kennett, son of Edgar and Beulah Charlton Lemonds. He and Helen Mayberry were married Aug. 6, 1938.
Lemonds was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Kennett, retiring in 1973. He was a member and former deacon at First Baptist Church in Kennett.
He served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Tracy Lemonds of Cape Girardeau; and a brother, Leon Lemonds of Kennett.
He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Ed Jansson and David Ross officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
