MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Alvin S. Pettit, 68, of Marble Hill died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1931, at Lansing, Mich., son of Syrles Edward and Dorothy Ione Thomas Pettit. He and Joan Nenninger were married April 13, 1996...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Alvin S. Pettit, 68, of Marble Hill died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Aug. 21, 1931, at Lansing, Mich., son of Syrles Edward and Dorothy Ione Thomas Pettit. He and Joan Nenninger were married April 13, 1996.

Pettit was a retired food service supervisor for the Federal Department of Corrections at Lompoc, Calif. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of Marble Hill; two step-sons, Edwin Storz of Italy, Texas, and Curtis Storz of Houston, Texas; two step-daughters, Margie Storz and Angela Severs, both of Delta, Mo.; three sisters, Eveline Branan and Edwina Coleman, both of Davison, Mich., and Sue Pettit of Scott City, Mo.; and several step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee. Military services will be held at the Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
