DELTA -- Alvin Howell, 80, of Delta died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Aug. 23, 1916 in Holland, son of John and Betty King Howell. He married Minnie McGee on Oct. 6, 1933, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 1995.
He was a retired custodian at Yermo Elementary School in Yermo, Calif.
He is survived by two sons, Ronnie and Tony Howell, both of Delta; five daughters, Shirley Diggs and Barbara Freeman, both of Delta, Peggy Bramlett of Jacksonville, Fla., Demitra Lyons of Bellville, Texas, and Diane Serrano of Yermo; a sister, Oma Gilmer of Riverside, Calif.; 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery.
