ALVIN E. MCGHEE

ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Alvin E. McGhee of Sullivan will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Reed's Funeral Home in Sullivan. The Rev. Wayne Turner will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Cobden Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.

Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of local arrangements.

McGhee, 79, died Thursday, April 20, 1995, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born Feb. 10, 1916, in Lyons, Kan., son of Thomas J. and Myrtle Matheny McGhee. He and Joyce Gunn were married Oct. 24, 1948, in Osceola, Ark.

McGhee retired from the Illinois Highway Department in 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Anna. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1938-48.

Survivors include his wife, and a sister, Edith McDonald of Reno, Nev.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
