Alvin Wesley "Blue" Blumenberg, 67, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Monticello House.

He was born Feb. 16, 1949, in East Prairie, Missouri, to Wesley William and Eloise Marie Woods Blumenberg.

He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. Alvin then was a police officer in Scott City. He was mayor of East Cape Girardeau, Illinois, and later worked as a car salesman for Auffenberg and First Auto Credit.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Smith Blumenberg of Jackson; a son, Jason Blumenberg (Amber Borgfield) of Jackson; two daughters, Sara Blumenberg and her husband, Clarence Biggerstaff of Cape Girardeau, and Lisa (Greg) Behnen of Festus, Missouri; stepchildren Tonya Smith, Beverly Miller and Betty Coleman; a brother, Albert (Karen) Blumenberg of Jackson; a sister, Letitia Blumenberg of Jackson; and six grandchildren, Kaley, Miranda, Jaden, Donavon, DeAjha and Teliyah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Blumenberg.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Rex Barker officiating. Burial with full military rites will be at Fairmount Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
