Aloysius Sullivan

Aloysius Francis "Al" Sullivan, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at his home.

He was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, to Richard H. and Ida Wendel Sullivan.

He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1948. Al served with the U.S. Army 187 FAOB in Fort Sill, Okla., from 1951 to 1953.

Al married Grace Elizabeth Ahlhardt April 11, 1953, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Austin, Texas.

He began work as a route salesman for Tom's Snacks in 1953, and purchased the distributorship in 1962. He retired in 1996 and sold the business.

Al was very involved with the Kiwanis Club, serving as president of the local club, district lieutenant governor, and administrator of Mo-Ark Circle K. He was also very dedicated to Old St. Vincent's Church.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kathy (Bill) Watson and Elizabeth Todt of Cape Girardeau; a son, Michael (Jane) Sullivan of House Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren, Sara (Mark) Beattie, Jessica Watson, Nathan Todt, Mark Sullivan and Zoe Sullivan; three great-grandchildren, Nigel Watson, Devin and Tristan Beattie.

He is also survived by a sister, Lee Boos of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Wendell Sullivan of Sturgeon, Mo., Harry and Joe T. Sullivan of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Patrick; a sister, and three brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7, with Knights of Columbus rosary following.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Old St. Vincent's Church. Concelebrants will be the Rev. Thomas Kiefer, the Rev. Patrick Nwokoye and the Rev. Robert Brockland. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors.
