BERNIE -- Alowese Massey, 60, of Bernie, died Tuesday, June 1, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Nimmons, Ark., daughter of Roland T. and Helen Winniger Baker.
Massey had lived in the Bernie area all her life. She owned and operated Wezzie's Paper Doll Lounge in Dexter.
Survivors include five sons, Larry Fitzgerald of Dexter, Terry Massey of Scappoose, Ore., Charles, James and Jerry Massey of Bernie; two daughters, Christine Marshall of Huntley, Ill., Sandra Barnes of Edwards, Calif.; five brothers, Donnie Baker of Bernie, Wayne and Gary Baker of Dexter, Jerry Baker of Malden, Von Baker of St. Louis; four sisters, Charline Frederick of Dexter, Shirley Miller of Patton, Jo Ann Ray of Cape Girardeau, Barbara Watkins of Bernie, and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and daughter.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Masters officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery.
