Alonzo "Lonnie" Rhodes Jr., 53, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Feb. 2, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 13, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Alonzo L. and Bessie Wallace Rhodes Sr. He married Shelby Shortridge on Sept. 21, 1969, in St. Louis.
Rhodes was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and had worked at Lee-Rowan Manufacturing in Jackson for three years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Christopher Dale Rhodes of Cape Girardeau and Lowell Parnell Rhodes of Alaska; three brothers, David Rhodes of Cape Girardeau, Jerry Rhodes of Scott City and Michael Rhodes of St. Louis; three sisters, Mary Lou Gohn and Nancy Markhart, both of Cape Girardeau, and Patricia Goodman of Italy.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Graveside services will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 3838.
