ADVANCE, Mo. -- Alma Alice Moore, 88, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at her home in Sikeston, Missouri. Alma spent most of her life in Southeast Missouri, where she helped to maintain a home with her mother and four brothers in Advance. She was born Aug. 30, 1929, at Green Cox, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Dosha Mae Littrell Cox. She married Harry Edward Moore in November 1949, and they went on to have two sons, Jerry Wayne and James Edwin Moore...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Alma Alice Moore, 88, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at her home in Sikeston, Missouri.

Alma spent most of her life in Southeast Missouri, where she helped to maintain a home with her mother and four brothers in Advance.

She was born Aug. 30, 1929, at Green Cox, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Dosha Mae Littrell Cox. She married Harry Edward Moore in November 1949, and they went on to have two sons, Jerry Wayne and James Edwin Moore.

Alma cared for their son, who lived with muscular dystrophy, and enjoyed singing Southern gospel music as part of the Jubilee Four Quarter with Harry, brother Albert and Ernest Baker.

In 1993, after the passing of her son, Jerry, Alma moved in with James and family, where she lived out her last 27 years. During this time, Alma found her joy in caring for her three grandchildren, attending church, writing letters to friends and relatives, singing and playing piano.

Alma studied her Bible daily, even when vision and health declined. Her enduring faith served as an inspiration for friends and family.

Alma was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, William, Carmen and Marion Cox; son, Jerry Moore; and husband, Harry Edward Moore.

She is survived by a son, James (Tina) Moore; grandchildren, Benjamin (Katy) Moore, Joseph Moore and Rachel (Morrel) Ashworth; and great-grandchildren, Josiah, Chloe, Noah, Adina, River and Avery Moore and Mikhail, Abel and Mark Ashworth.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with Pastor Benjamin Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery near Advance.
