Alma M. Schonhoff, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1993, at Chateau Girardeau Health Care Center.
She was born March 11, 1908, at Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Louis and Amelia Foeste Stoll. On Nov. 11, 1983, she married Raymond Schonhoff, who preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1984.
A lifetime resident of Cape Girardeau, she was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish, the Cathedral Ladies, and the Daughters of Isabella. She also was a member of the St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary.
She and her husband and his family owned and operated the Schonhoff Dairy Farm in Cape Girardeau for 50 years. In August 1959, they sold the dairy to Sunny Hill Dairy, but continued to operate the family farm until 1971. As a young woman, she worked for the Meyer-Albert Wholesale Grocery Company and the Gateley Department Store.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Schonhoff Jr. of Stuttgart, Ark., and Stephen Schonhoff of Oak Ridge; two daughters, Pat Janevic of St. Clair Shores, Mich. and Mary Ellen McKay of Las Cruces, N.M.; a brother, Ralph Stoll of Arnold, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A daughter also preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel and parish prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Msgr. Richard Rolwing will officiate, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
