PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Alma B. Abernathy, 79, of Sullivan, Mo., formerly of Perryville, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Life Care Center in Sullivan.
She was born July 24, 1929, in Menfro, Mo., daughter of Thomas and Martha Bass Clifton.
She and Paul E. Abernathy were married Nov. 21, 1948.
She was a retired teacher at Nazarene Day Care Center in House Springs, Mo.
She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Eastern Star in Sullivan.
She is survived by her husband of Sullivan; a son, Richard Abernathy of Jackson; two daughters, Betty Gonzalez of High Ridge, Mo., and Donna Buchheit of St. Peters, Mo.; two sisters, Ann Hurst of St. Mary, Mo., and Theresa Klaus of Arnold, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel in Perryville. An Eastern Star service will be held today at the funeral chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jesse Parrott officiating.
Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
