Allen R. "Big Al" Stueve, 54, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 1, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Raymond R. and Mary Margaret Walker Stueve.
Al was a 1970 graduate of Jackson High School. He worked at the former Litz Poultry Plant in Jackson, drove a cab for the former Nip Kelley Transportation in Cape Girardeau and drove for a local courier company.
He was a lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, a member of Jackson Elks and Cape Girardeau Eagles. He especially enjoyed playing cards at the American Legion Hall in Jackson and was an avid football and basketball fan.
Loving survivors include his brother, John Stueve of Jackson; a sister, Diane (Charlie) Wendel of Jackson; nephew, Jeff Wendel of Sedgewickville, Mo.; niece, Shari Murphy of Jackson; and family friend, Maria Sevilla of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Ozment; and an infant brother, Paul Ray Stueve.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 31, at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rhodes officiating.
Interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the New Bethel Cemetery Fund.
