Allen Mossmayer Jr., 63, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Feb, 10, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born August 3, 1958, in San Francisco, California, to the late Allen Mossmayer Sr. and Patsy Vollmer.
Allen graduated from Redwood High School in 1976 and enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in August of 1976, serving honorably until 1982. Upon leaving the Corps, Allen moved back to the Bay area and went to work as a tree climber.
He met the love of his life, Joy, in 1992 and they set out as team drivers for Allied Truck Lines. They drove for several years before moving to Jackson where Allen began driving for Kranawetter, Lang and Capitol Sand Trucking. While living in California, Allen was a member of Clampers, a benevolent organization helping those in need.
Loving survivors include his wife of 30 years, Joy Vilhaur; sons, Allen (Diamond) Mossmayer III of Macedon New York, James Dilley, Mike Dilley and Joe (Bobbie) Dilley, all of Jackson; an Uncle Freddie; grandchildren, Renee Mossmayer, Michael, Missy, Jordyn Johnson, Jaden Dilley, Caitlin Dilley and Madison Davie; two great-grandchildren; his best friend, Bubba (Jennifer) Holt and their daughter Autumn.
He was preceded in death by a brother John Mossmayer and a sister Debrah Bolick.
The memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating followed by full military honors.
