CAIRO, Ill. -- Funeral service for Alice Maud Hogendobler of Cairo will be held at 1 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Joseph N. Suitor will officiate, with burial in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to service time.
Hogendobler, 100, died Tuesday, March 29, 1994, at Daystar Care Center.
She was born Aug. 27, 1893, in Villa Ridge, daughter of Horace G. and Sarah Elizabeth Miller Hogendobler.
She began teaching in 1911 at Round Pond School near Grand Chain. She later served as principal/teacher in Olmsted, retiring in 1953.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star, Retired Teachers Association, and charter member of both the Cairo Business and Professional Women's Club and the Nicolaus Hogendobler Society Inc. in Lancaster, Pa.
Hogendobler served as president and treasurer of the Cairo BPW, and received the Woman of the Year award in 1980.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
