CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Alfreda Scott Rodgers, 92, of Charleston died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
She was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Clarksdale, Miss., the daughter of Paul and Murilla Carson Scott. She lived in Missouri for more than 80 years.
She married D.L. Rodgers who died Feb. 28, 1970.
She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she was on the Mothers' Board, was a former member of the Usher Board and past secretary/treasurer of the Charleston NAACP.
Survivors include four daughters, Margaret Jefferson of Flint, Mich., Rozean Jones and Annie Hamilton of Charleston, Maxine Hill of St. Louis; four sons, Frank and Gene Rodgers of Charleston, Marshall Rodgers of Evanston, Ill., David Rodgers of Chicago; a sister, Eula James of Carbondale, Ill.; 55 grandchildren; 110 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons and two daughters.
Friends may call Saturday at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston from noon until 3 p.m.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday with Richard Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
