Alfred H. Westrich, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 30, 1927, in Kelso, Missouri, to Simon L. and Justine C. Blattel Westrich. He and Mary C. Bles were married May 30, 1959, in Benton, Missouri.
Alfred was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary High School in Cape Girardeau.
He served in the U.S. Navy during Word War II.
He began working for Farmers & Merchants Bank in 1945 and retired after 44 years when the bank was known as Bank of America. He served in various capacities at the bank and worked in almost every department during his career.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1111 and Thomas A. Langen Assembly, Fourth Degree. He was also a perpetual adorer since the inception of perpetual adoration at Saint Francis Medical Center. In addition, he was a member of many civic and community organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Westrich of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Cindy Westrich of Cape Girardeau and Sandy (Kirk) Bowman of Springfield, Missouri; two granddaughters, Sarah (Seth) Hampel of Nixa, Missouri, and Jessica Bowman of Columbia, Missouri; one grandson, Benjamin Bowman of Springfield; and one great-grandson, Daxton Hampel of Nixa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, LeRoy John Westrich.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Revs. Rick Jones and Francisco Gordillo concelebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Graveside military rites will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
