JACKSON -- Alfred W. Johnson of Jackson died Thursday, Jan. 30, 1997, at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colo. He was 70 years old. He was born April 17, 1926, at Arcada, Calif., son of Alfred and Hanna Perrson Johnson. On Sept. 4, 1949, he married Helen Evart in Santa Rosa, Calif. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1982...

JACKSON -- Alfred W. Johnson of Jackson died Thursday, Jan. 30, 1997, at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colo. He was 70 years old.

He was born April 17, 1926, at Arcada, Calif., son of Alfred and Hanna Perrson Johnson. On Sept. 4, 1949, he married Helen Evart in Santa Rosa, Calif. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1982.

He was a supervisor for North American Rockwell, working at Seal Beach, Calif., then transferring to Missouri in 1974. He retired in 1976. Before retiring, he had worked on the Appollo space project, Sabreliner, and other aerospace projects during his 22-year career. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, having served in World War II.

He was a member of several civic and social organizations, including the Race Car Club, Management Club of North America, the Air Force Association and Friends of the Air Force Museum.

He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. He enjoyed photography and taking pictures while hiking in the mountains. During the past five years he had split time between Jackson and Longmont, Colo.

He is survived by one daughter, Joann Gantz of Longmont, Calif.; one son, Christopher Johnson of Chaffee; and three grandchildren.

A Mass was celebrated Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, Colo. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with parrish prayers at 7 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
