NEW HAMBURG -- Alexander Anthony Burger Jr., 65, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1992, at his home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1927, at Kelso, the son of Alexander and Clara Georger Burger. On May 28, 1946, he married Vera Bertha Glastetter at New Hamburg. She survives of the home.
He was a farmer in Scott and Cape Girardeau Counties throughout his life. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, the St. Joseph's Sodality and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4311 of Oran. He also was an avid euchre player.
Other survivors include four sons, Daniel R. Burger, Alexander Robin Burger III and Russell L. Burger, all of New Hamburg, and James A. Burger of Benton; a daughter, Jacqueline D. Griffith of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Harold Burger of Scott City and Leo Burger of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Rose Hillman and Alma Burger, both of Scott City, Linda Ziegler of Benton and Ann Thompson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Benton. Prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m., with Knights of Columbus service scheduled for 8. Funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. The Rev. Amel Shibley will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
