Alene Proctor, 89, formerly of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She had resided five years in the assisted living and skilled facilities at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Millersville, daughter of Hubert F. and Dessie Mae Sebaugh Hartle. She and Elmer L. Proctor were married Aug. 23, 1945, in Jackson. He passed away Jan. 21, 1999.
Alene worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill and the former LeeRowan (now Rubbermaid) in Jackson. She assisted her husband in their construction business, the Elmer Proctor Construction Co. in Jackson. She was a lifelong member of Millersville Methodist Church, and a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Karen (Mike) Grebing of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Arthur (Kathy) Hartle of Millersville and Albert (Lou) Hartle of Gilbertsville, Ky.; and a sister, Rose Seabaugh of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Hartle; and a sister, Vesta Bollinger.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Lutheran Home or the church or charity of choice.
