WYATT, Mo. -- Alberta Yoakum, 70, of Wyatt died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Charleston Manor in Charleston, Mo.
She was born July 30, 1929, at Wyatt, daughter of Vernon and Alice Raynor Stroud. She and Mark Yoakum Jr. were married Jan. 1, 1949. He died in January 1987.
A lifelong resident of Wyatt, she served 11 years on the Wyatt City Council. She was an accountant 51 years and had worked at Charlie Watson Motor Co. in Cairo, Ill., Citizens Bank of Charleston, Wyatt Cotton Gin, Charleston Housing Authority, and retired from Birds Point Terminal in January 2000.
Yoakum was a member of Wyatt United Methodist Church, was pianist and organist many years, and was a member of the administrative board.
Survivors include a son, Steve Yoakum of St. Charles, Mo.; her stepmother, Pauline Stroud of Charleston; a half brother, Robert Stroud of Jacksonville, Ark.; a stepbrother, Billie Dennis of Wickliffe, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
