SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Alberta Henry Flowers, 86, of Sikeston will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Westend Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronald Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in the Westend Cemetery with the Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
She died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1994, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born on Jan. 17, 1908 near Red Bank, Miss., the daughter of William and Savannah Malone Henry.
She was a former 4-H leader, retired teacher and a member of the Westend Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the missionary society and an active member of the Christian Liberty District Association.
On Oct. 3, 1939, she married Robert L. Flowers, who died on Jan. 20, 1992. Two sons also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Wilbur Flowers of East St. Louis, Ill.; three daughters, Janice Flowers Davis of Austin, Texas, Robbie Flowers Alexander of Raytown and Mamie Flowers of St. Louis; three sisters, Mary Francis Harrington of the home, and Alberta Gardner and Betty Redd, both of Sikeston; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
